Educational Qualification:

A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university or its equivalent is required.

Language:

• The applicant must be fluent in Bengali (speaking, reading, and writing). This rule, however, will not apply to permanent inhabitants of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts’ hill sub-divisions.
• The provisions of the West Bengal Official Language Act, 1961 (24 of 1961) will apply to the petitioner of Darjeeling and Kalimpong District hill sub-divisions.

Age Limit:

• As of January 1, 2023, the candidate must be no younger than 20 years old and no older than 27 years old. The upper age limit will be reduced by 05 (five) years for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) categories, and by 03 (three) years for candidates belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories, and by 03 (three) years in the case of a transgender person.
• The upper age limit is also relaxed to 35 (thirty-five) years for Kolkata Police departmental candidates who merely have the required qualifications. The upper age limit for departmental candidates would be reduced by 05 (five) years for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates and by 03 (three) years for Other Backward Classes applicants.
