Age Limit

To be eligible for these Technician-1 posts, candidates must meet the age criteria as of 19th June 2026. The general age limit is:

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 28 years (for General/EWS candidates)

Relaxations in the upper age limit are applicable for reserved categories as per Government of India rules:

• SC/ST: Up to 33 years (28 + 5 years)
• OBC (NCL): Up to 31 years (28 + 3 years)
• PwBD (UR): Up to 38 years (28 + 10 years)
• Further relaxations for PwBD (OBC) and PwBD (SC/ST), Departmental Candidates, Ex-Servicemen, and Widows/Divorced Women are also applicable as per government guidelines.

Educational Qualification

To be considered for the CSIR-CIMFR Technician-1 positions, candidates need to have successfully completed their SSC/10th Standard or an equivalent examination with Science subjects, securing a minimum of 55% marks. In addition to this, they must fulfill one of the following criteria in a relevant trade:

1. Possess an ITI certificate or a national/state trade certificate from a recognized institution.
2. Have at least 2 years of full-time experience as an Apprentice Trainee from a recognized institution.
3. Hold 3 years of work experience in the relevant trade within a recognized Ministry, Department, Organization, PSU, or Autonomous Body under the Government of India or a State/UT.

The selection journey for the CSIR-CIMFR Technician posts involves a rigorous two-stage process designed to identify the best talent:

1. Stage 1: Trade Test
   Candidates will first undergo a Trade Test, based on their specific discipline. Only those who successfully qualify in this stage will proceed to the next round.
2. Stage 2: Competitive Written Examination
   Successful candidates from the Trade Test will be invited for an OMR-based or Computer-Based Objective Type Written Examination. This exam will comprise three papers, with a standard equivalent to SSC + ITI / 12th Standard. Questions will be bilingual (English and Hindi), except for the English Language section.
