The selection process for the Assistant Sub-Inspector (Technical) positions is meticulously designed to identify the most suitable candidates. It involves a comprehensive multi-stage evaluation:

  1. Written Examination (Two Tiers):
    • Preliminary Examination: This is the initial screening, consisting of 100 objective-type questions for 100 marks, to be completed in 2 hours. It covers General Knowledge & Current Affairs (40 questions) and your chosen technical subject (60 questions). You need a minimum of 30% to qualify for the Main Exam, and candidates will be shortlisted 20 times the number of vacancies.
    • Main Examination: This tier has two papers. Paper I focuses on General Language Knowledge (Hindi 50 marks + English 50 marks) for 1.5 hours, requiring 30% to qualify (marks are not added to merit). Paper II is a 3-hour test on your Technical Subject (100 questions for 100 marks), with a minimum qualifying mark of 33%. Be mindful of negative marking, as 0.2 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer across all papers.
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): This stage is qualifying in nature and does not carry marks. It assesses your physical fitness through various events:
    • Race: Males must complete 1.6 km (1 mile) in max 7 minutes; Females 1 km in max 7 minutes.
    • High Jump: Males min 3 feet 6 inches; Females min 2 feet 6 inches.
    • Long Jump: Males min 10 feet; Females min 7 feet.
    • Shot Put: Males (16 lbs) min 14 feet; Females (12 lbs) min 8 feet.

    You will get three attempts for High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put. Failing to meet the minimum standards in any event will lead to disqualification. Please note, pregnant women are not permitted to participate in the race/PET.

  3. Medical Examination: The final stage involves a thorough medical examination to ensure you meet the prescribed health standards for joining the police force. This includes checks for visual defects, color blindness, hearing, stammering (which will lead to disqualification), flat-foot, knocking knees, and other general health parameters.
