As of October 1st, 2026, the age criteria for the MDL Trade Apprentice Recruitment are as follows:
Group A (10th Pass): 15 to 19 Years
Group B (ITI Passed): 16 to 21 Years
Group C (8th Pass): 14 to 18 Years
Good news for reserved categories! Age relaxation will be provided as per Government of India rules:
SC/ST Candidates: 5 Years
OBC (NCL) Candidates: 3 Years
PwBD Candidates (UR): 10 Years
PwBD Candidates (OBC): 13 Years
PwBD Candidates (SC/ST): 15 Years
Ex-Servicemen: As per Government Rules
Educational Qualification
To be eligible for the various Trade Apprentice positions at MDL, candidates need to meet specific educational requirements based on the group and trade they apply for:
Group A (10th Pass Trades like Draftsman, Electrician, Fitter, Pipe Fitter, Structural Fitter): Must have passed SSC/10th with General Science and Mathematics. A minimum of 50% aggregate marks is required for General/OBC/EWS/SEBC/PwD/AFC candidates, while SC/ST candidates need a pass class.
Group B (ITI Passed Trades like Fitter Structural, Electrician, Welder, COPA, etc.): You should have passed ITI in the relevant trade from a Government/Government Recognized Institute with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. A pass class is sufficient for SC/ST candidates.
Group C (8th Pass Trades like Rigger & Welder): Candidates must have passed the 8th Standard under the 10+2 system with Science and Mathematics. A minimum of 50% aggregate marks applies to General/OBC/EWS candidates.
